Dermal fillers are used to fill or replace the lost volume in static wrinkles, lines and folds. Unlike anti-wrinkle injections, they do not affect facial muscle contraction. Generally, dermal fillers are used in the treatment of wrinkles, lines, and folds that appear at rest, rather than those that appear during facial expression. Wrinkles due to facial expression are best treated with anti-wrinkle injections.
Sculptra®, or poly-l-lactic acid, is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration and is an excellent dermal filler to help eliminate wrinkles and lack of volume. Sculptra® is also approved by the FDA for restoration and/or correction of the signs of facial fat loss (lipoatrophy) in people with human immunodeficiency virus. Facial fat loss, or lipoatrophy, is the loss of fat beneath the skin, which can result in sunken cheeks, indentations, and hollow eyes. Sculptra® is a safe, synthetic, and biocompatible material that is injected below the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss. It provides a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of folds and sunken areas. No skin testing is required.
Restylane is based on a hyaluronic acid gel that closely resembles the body's own hyaluronic acid. It is long lasting, but not permanent. Restylane is an injectable gel which should always administered by a trained, medically qualified practitioner. Restylane enhances your natural looks by restoring your skin’s volume, creating softness and revitalizing your appearance.
